About Us

Hollows are a 3 piece Alternative Rock band based in Manchester. The band met in the city and formed the current line up in early 2021 Since then, releasing a series of singles which were met with support from BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X’s John Kennedy, BBC Introducing, XS Manchester and editorial playlists on Apple Music.

Frontman Sean Davies believes that the current line-up of Dan Dyson on drums and Jack Barnes on bass has finally given the band an identity and a sound they can be proud of. Hollows are looking forward to releasing new music in 2023 after a second sell out show in their home city, support slots for the likes of SPACE and Peter Hook & The Light and a summer tour under their belts.

As well as single and live reviews, the band have received a huge amount of radio support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, XS Manchester, Rick Witter’s Disco Down and WAM Radio. Hollows are currently releasing music though End Of The Trail Records.

Hollows spectacular release from 2021, ‘UV Lights’ now has over 30k streams and has a magnitude that could be likened to that of Kings Of Leon or  The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hailing from the streets of Manchester, the quartet have a lot to live up to, but with this release, they certainly have.

RGM

Manchester rock band Hollows nail it again with brand new single ‘Chequered’. Anthemic and relatable, this song has it all, from catchy lyrics, to powerful melodies, and killer guitar lines. Bursting through with a roaring guitar that delivers a classic rock sound that perfectly compliments the voice of frontman Sean Davies.

This new single follows on from the success of their last single ‘Ghosts’ which enjoyed support from BBC Radio 6 presenter Steve Lamaq, and earnt them support slots with Peter Hook & the Light, Space, Fizzy Blood and False Heads, as well as a sell-out hometown show.

‘Chequered’ is the band’s heartbreak anthem, capturing separation and angst through moody lyrics, emotive melodies, and a soaring guitar line that carries throughout the song. The guitar and Sean’s voice play a beautiful game of push and pull throughout, the sweet tone of the guitar pulling at your heart strings, whilst Sean’s gravelly indie-rock voice delivers the heartbreaking story.

This is a great indie-rock tune, perfect for the radio. Whilst it doesn’t push any boundaries and stays fairly close to the cliches of the genre, its a solid tune that showcases the skill of the band. Hollows show without a doubt they know how to produce a killer single, and are pushing on for mainstream success. Reminiscent of Peace and Stereophonics, ‘Chequered’ has what every good single needs. An earworm of melody! You’ll be singing this for days on end, Davies’ voice ringing in your head with the last note of the guitar echoing long after the song ends.

MUSIC FOR THE MISFITS

Manchester-based alternative indie four-piece Hollows have just released their new single ‘You’re Fine’, a refined and slowly built up piece of pop! The band was formed in early 2017 by singer and guitarist Sean Davies and have been steadily building and emphasising their sound since. Theirs is an anthemic one a la Blossoms and The Charlatans, a dramatic and grand gesture with a cheeky undertone.

‘You’re Fine’ is about wanting more, “it’s about wanting that little bit more than you have out of life but also understanding that what you have is okay and you’re doing all that badly. Being proud of your accomplishments however big or small.”

Their soaring sound is a hint to their influences, and ‘You’re Fine’ will be right up your street if you’re a fan of The Cure, Kings of Leon and or The Strokes. Now that restrictions have lifted we are hoping that Hollows will soon return to the stage, we are already imagining their energetic sound blasting from a set of speakers while the band perform their act on stage.

IT’S ALL INDIE

Following on from their anthemic single “Advice” earlier this year, the Manchester quartet is back with yet another track to ease its way into your heart. The aforementioned single is now their most streamed track and even landed them a record deal, further cementing their presence as a rising band in Manchester.

The chorus is downright anthemic, comparable to that of DMA’s and Catfish and the Bottlemen, two bands who are well known to create anthemic choruses, and it sounds like Hollows are aiming to be on that list by the sounds of things.

Coming in at just under three minutes “You’re Fine” carries on with their signature sound, which has layered up guitar tones, expansive drums, and vocals that can carry a festival crowd’s attention. Much like their previous single, the chorus is downright anthemic, comparable to that of DMA’s and Catfish and the Bottlemen, two bands who are well known to create anthemic choruses, and it sounds like Hollows are aiming to be on that list by the sounds of things.

With the momentum being carried over from their record deal it sounds like they are turning it up a notch and letting their talent shining through. Two fantastic singles in a year, and I feel like there’s much more to come.

OUR SOUND MUSIC

Hollows are back with their spectacular second song of 2021, ‘UV Lights’ that reaches the magnitude that could be likened to that of Kings Of Leon or The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hailing from the streets of Manchester, the quartet have a lot to live up to, but with this release, they certainly have.

‘UV Lights’ is a story that bases itself around a night out with mates where little arguments and fall outs start coming to light because of the drink. As the line “Mistakes won’t function you know? Hidden in plain sight under UV Lights” echoes perpetual throughout, it serves as a statement of the meaning behind the track.

Hollows are clearly a band going places, and this new release shines a light on their path to the top. Exciting, self-assured, vibrant. ‘UV Lights’ is a must listen.
